It’s frightening how some people can be cruel to animals. There is just no reason for anyone to put them through pain, neglect, or abandonment. Dogs can be the sweetest animals there are, especially if they are treated well.
But, there are also surely a lot of people that show great kindness and love for them. Such as the story of a Lithuanian woman who found a dog near a river. What she discovered shook her to the core.

Audra Petraškienė was driving home one day when she saw a small pup sitting by the side of the road. She saw that it was soaking wet and that it looked exhausted. Curious and feeling sorry for the poor creature, she stopped her car to see if she can help. And when she got closer, she was shocked to see that tied to the little dog’s neck was a heavy metal cube.
The kind woman knew right away that somebody was trying to drown the dog in the river nearby. The metal weight acted as an anchor so that the dog could not get out of the water. Apparently, he was thrown in but miraculously survived. Later on, they discovered that the makeshift anchor weighed 13 pounds.
Audra took the pup home and took off the anchor. She fed him and cleaned him up. Determined to help him no matter what, she then took the scared dog to a vet. Thankfully, the dog only suffered minor injuries. After getting treated, she then took the dog to the authorities where they made a report and started an investigation.
They eventually found the owner, and it turned out that the dog went missing a few days prior. They also discovered that their neighbor took the dog and tried to kill him as part of a revenge plot he concocted. The man will be charged when they have fully finished their investigation.
What is important is that the dog is now safe, and hopefully, nothing else will happen to him.
