Shelter volunteers offer more than just their time and effort. They pour out their whole heart and soul when caring for rescue animals. They are not merely employees doing a job and don’t even get paid. They are there because they know that what they are doing would make a massive difference in the lives of these poor animals.
Important bond
Taking animals off the streets and putting them in shelters is not as comforting as one would think. Well, not to the dogs. They have been taken away from their familiar surroundings and placed inside what would seem like a cage to them. They feel confused and scared as they do not know what is happening.
Humans must make these homeless animals feel comfortable and safe at this stage. They do not know they are being saved, so they must show them much love and care. Creating a bond is essential as this would remove their anxieties and fears.
Many volunteers make this critical effort, which changes many stray pups’ lives.
One perfect example of this bond is the story of a rescue pup named Prissy and a kindhearted volunteer named Chrissy.
Love connection
Prissy was a stray that was found living in the streets of Tennessee. She was lying on a concrete slab, melting from the sweltering heat. She was then brought to the Conway Area Humane Society in New Hampshire, where she was given a comfortable space to stay.
She was also checked by a doctor and given medication and food to regain her strength. But no matter how much kindness they showed her, she never felt comfortable inside the facility. This made it hard for Chrissy to watch her.
Inspiration
When Prissy was spayed, Chrissy decided to comfort her. After her surgery, the good-hearted lady stayed inside the rescue dog’s kennel and laid down beside her. One shelter staff took a video once she saw what was happening.
According to the staff member, these moments commonly happen, but the volunteers refuse to be filmed when comforting the dogs. The video was posted on the group’s Facebook page and quickly went viral. A lot of people commended Chrissy for her dedication to helping the dogs.
Hopefully, the video will inspire others, and they will do their share to help rescue dogs. Watch the heartwarming video in the link below.
