A dog owned by a senior citizen is always at risk of being left behind if something bad happens to the owner. For example, if that owner were suddenly hospitalized, no one would feed the dog unless a relative or neighbor was present. The following story explores this scenario and what comes after.
Chadol is a dog that experienced an unfortunate incident. The owner, an older gentleman, collapsed inside his house. Fortunately, one of his neighbors was nearby when this happened, so she called an ambulance, and the owner was rushed to the hospital.
Chadol’s owner was diagnosed with many illnesses, one of them being dementia. Doctors advised the older gentleman to stay in the hospital for a year. The situation demanded that Chadol stays in a temporary home while the owner received medical care.
A kind Korean family took on the responsibility of caring for Chadol. They have a nice house with a large backyard where the dog can run around. Additionally, since they were a large family, Chadol always had someone to play with in the new home.
After a year, Chadol and his owner were allowed to meet for a short while. The dog was taken to the hospital so he could visit the older gentleman. It was an emotional meeting that made the owner shed tears of joy. However, after the reunion, the two of them parted ways once again.
Unfortunately, the older gentleman’s treatment schedule had to be extended indefinitely. Meanwhile, Chadol’s temporary family keeps in contact with the previous owner during such trying times. Chadol and his previous owner often virtually interact through video calls.
It’s a complicated and heartbreaking situation, for sure. There’s a chance that the older gentleman might not be able to reunite with his dog again. However, as long as Chadol is happy and cared for, everyone involved is satisfied.
