All dogs deserve loving forever homes. Unfortunately, thousands of dogs don’t find their forever homes and live the rest of their lives in animal shelters. Although these dogs do get the care they need in most animal shelters, it’s not enough. They also need a family with whom they can share their love.
It’s usually senior dogs and dogs with health conditions that don’t get adopted. Most people often choose puppies rather than old dogs. Unfortunately, it’s the old dogs that need love the most.
A senior dog named Hero lived in an animal shelter after he became homeless when his former owner was arrested. He’s very friendly toward the shelter staff and volunteers but he still needed a stable home and a family that he can love. If there was one dog that truly deserved a forever home, it was Hero.
Hero had been living with a Sacramento-based animal rescue organization called Pit Crew Rescue for eight months. He was very sweet and gentle towards the staff and he befriends anyone he meets. Unfortunately, no one wanted to adopt him because of his age.
Thankfully, a couple named Rusty and Anna decided to take a chance on Hero and adopted him. After adopting Hero, the couple soon discovered just how amazing he is. They both fell in love with him and would often try to compete for his attention. Hero loves cuddling with Rusty and Anna and he loved spending time with his new doggie siblings.
Hero was already eight or nine years old when Rusty and Anna adopted him. They both wished that they could have met him sooner. Eventually, Hero’s health deteriorated, and soon crossed the rainbow bridge.
Although Hero only spent a short time being a part of Rusty and Anna’s family, he was happy and felt what it’s like to be a part of a family. Rusty and Anna are both thankful that they’ve been part of Hero’s life. Here’s a video featuring Hero’s heartwarming story.
