A Korean bee farmer got worried when one day he saw a dog wandering inside his farm. It seemed that the dog was lost because she was wearing a collar. When he tried approaching the lost pup, she suddenly bolted and went inside his open warehouse where he stored tons of wooden boxes. These are the boxes that he uses for honey production.
He followed the dog inside, but she crept under the boxes and would find ways to avoid him. He attempted to get her out from hiding every day, but the dog was really wily. He would put some food out, but she wouldn’t come out if she sensed that someone was out there. After a month of failing to get her out, he finally decided to call for help.
Trap
The bee farmer got in touch with a local charity rescue group who came in and investigated the matter. He pointed where the dog was and when they couldn’t catch her, they took pictures. Their first strategy was to go around the area and see if someone owned the dog. They printed out flyers and went door to door and asked the residents. But it seemed that no one owned the dog. She was probably from a nearby town.
Concerned that the dog might not be doing well in the warehouse, plus with the dangers of having bees around, they decided to set up a trap for her. They brought a large connectable cage that had a remote-controlled gate. They put some food inside and then hid. They knew that if the dog sensed them, she would never come out.
They waited and waited, and after a few hours, the dog emerged. She went inside the cage, and while she was eating, they remotely closed the gate. Finally, they got her.
One of the rescuers went inside and they were surprised to find that she was very sociable. Once she realized that she didn’t have anywhere to go, she just became friendly.
More surprises
They took her right to a vet where she was prescribed medication for heartworm. Then, in a heartwarming move, the bee farmer offered to foster her. He didn’t really want to chase the dog away, he just wanted to give her a better place to stay in.
The dog will be staying with him and his family until they find her owner, or if they find someone willing to adopt her. But with the way things look, the bee farmer might just end up being her new dad.
