Golden Retriever Saves Owner from Snake Bite
Today, we will feature another true Dog Story about a cuddly Golden Retriever named Todd. Our furry friend’s sacrifice saved his human from a venomous snake bite that nearly cost him his life.
Danger Ahead in The Weeds
Paula Godwin went out for a hike with Todd and her other dog in Arizona when she suddenly became aware that she was about to step onto a rattlesnake. Growing up in Arizona, Paula is mindful of rattlesnakes’ possible dangers and knows the most common signs are for, such as a familiar sound of a rattle.
It is especially true when you’re in an area where rattlesnakes are quite a common sight. However, she came across with camouflaged and rested quietly on the road, which meant that a careless eye would not easily spot it.
Angry at the disturbance and possibly sensed threat from the newcomers, the resting rattlesnake arched up, ready to launch a bite on Paula’s leg. Immediately sensing the incoming danger, Todd leaped in front speedily to protect her and took the snake bite on the side of his handsome face.
Ouch That Hurt
After the sudden attack, Todd let out a loud yelp and cried in pain. Fearing for her brave hero’s life, Paula immediately scooped up the whimpering pup, rushed to the nearest vet hospital, and made it in ten minutes. The doctors at the hospital wasted no time and quickly administered an injection for antivenom.
Thankfully, the vaccine worked wonders. Todd had an incredible, fast recovery and was back on his paws again immediately. Paula shared pictures of Todd’s ordeal and his quick recovery on social media.
The great deed of her hero dog received a lot of warm praise online. Indeed, our pawed friends won’t let us down in times of need.
