Babies and dogs, they are quite an adorable mix. Countless videos of them have gone viral, and there is an excellent reason for that. Dogs that have been home trained and well acclimated to human contact can be very gentle and loving; they can be protective as well. They see babies as part of their packs and feel the need to get close to them and keep danger away. On the other hand, babies love dogs. To them, they may seem like big furry toys that they can cuddle. Put them together, and it’s priceless.
Small steps
In one particular short video, which has garnered more than twenty-two and half million views, a baby girl is shown learning how to crawl. In front of her is their fully grown black Labrador. At first, the baby is seen lying on her stomach, eyes focused on their beloved pet. She is happy and smiling and wants to get closer to their lab.
This motivates the baby to push herself up and crawl towards the dog. Slowly, she moves her legs forward then she gently lies on the floor again. But she is relentless. Repeatedly, she would push herself up on all fours and would awkwardly move her legs and her arms. Despite the lack of coordination, she inches closer and closer to the Lab, laughing and smiling all the while.
The dog looks intently at the baby, focusing its gaze on her as if motivating her to come closer. She sits, patiently waiting for her to go near her. And when the baby was close enough, the female chocolate lab stretches towards the baby, wags her tail, inches her head closer, and licked the baby’s head. It seemed that she wanted to congratulate the baby for a job well done! It was such a beautiful moment caught on video. See it for yourself below.
