With the continuously freezing weather in Minnesota last November, Nick Greatens and his partner found themselves spending more time at home than outside. They were content with busying themselves with their gadgets at first, but they wanted to do something more productive to pass the time.
That was when they decided to try two new hobbies, learning to crochet and fostering a dog. After getting everything ready for their new hobbies, they headed over to the local non-profit animal rescue called Ruff Start Rescue. There, they met Yelena and Agnarr, two bonded senior Chihuahuas.
Both of them were rescued from a hoarding situation and took in by the shelter. However, because they were old and emotionally dependent on each other, not many adopters were interested in them. Nick knew right there and then that he wanted to help the two Chihuahuas out and provide them with a home at least for the holidays.
So he and his partner applied as foster parents for the canines, and in no time at all, they brought home Agnarr and Yelena. It wasn’t easy taking care of the two pups at first, mainly since they were skeptical of their new humans. Fortunately, after spending days with the couple, the pair began to warm up to them. They would often cuddle with the couple and loved spending hours lounging on the couch, getting warm.
While attending to the senior dogs, Nick had also started enhancing his crocheting skills. He often practiced during his work meetings to clear his mind, but he admitted that he was too impatient to make a sweater for himself yet. So as a way of putting his newly gained skills to use, he decided to crochet sweaters for the dogs instead.
He initially did the project as a way of keeping the Chihuahuas warm for the entire winter. But he later realized that he could actually make the sweaters fashionable enough to attract a potential family for the duo. Well, that was exactly what happened as not too long after Christmas, the pair were sent over to their new forever home. Look at the two adorable Chihuahuas, wearing their foster fur dad’s masterpieces, here.
