Even though individuals prefer to adopt dogs from animal shelters rather than from pet stores, lots of the dogs adopted are returned. We must remember that the lion’s share of the dogs in animal shelters had former owners or have lived as wanders their entire lives. Some have personalities and unexpected actions that may not be ideal for their new keepers.
A man named Antony recently transferred to a new town far from his family and workmates. He felt lonely and concluded that adopting a dog might be a grand theory. Antony visited the nearby animal shelter and was able to find the ideal canine companion. He was told that the dog’s name was Reggie, and he looked beautiful and nurtured.
Antony wondered why nobody wanted to adopt Reggie. He was one of the sweetest dogs in the shelter and seemed well-mannered. Eventually, Antony took Reggie home and agreed to give Reggie two weeks to see if he would adjust. Sadly, for Antony, Reggie didn’t want to play or do anything.
Reggie didn’t want to play for two weeks, and he also didn’t respond to training. Reggie would mope around the house and always look blue. Reggie also wouldn’t react when his name was called, and he appeared like an obstinate dog. Antony did all he could to make Reggie as relaxed as possible however he was confused about why Reggie did nothing.
Antony decided to submit and returning Reggie to the kennel would be helpful for both of them. But he remembered that a box of Reggie’s belongings came with him from the kennel. Antony took everything out of the container to see if something would make him understand Reggie better.
Antony found an array of old dog toys, a sleeping pad, and a sealed letter in the box. Curious about what the letter said, he opened it and read its text. After reading the note, Antony was shaking and in tears. He learned that Reggie’s name was Tank and was previously owned by a soldier named Paul Mallory, who had no family unit and was deployed to Iraq.
The note also contained pointers about Tank’s favorite pastime. The Tank was owned by a man who truly admired him. Antony saw that Tank was being kept at the shelter until Paul returned to his residence. Sad to say, Paul was lost in action, and Tank was made available for acquiring.
Antony was shocked that he almost gave up on such an outstanding dog. As soon as he said Tank’s real name and lifted his old tennis balls, Tank noticed and started wagging his tailpiece. Antony was finally able to bond with Tank, and he decided to give Tank the best home that he could ever give. Here’s a heartwarming video featuring Tank’s story.
